Veterinarians have been given the right and privilege of being the only medical professionals able to prescribe drugs and provide prescriptions drugs to our clientele.  This is due in part to the specific needs that our animal patients have relative to humans.  Drug stores and pharmacies have provision of human medications to human patients as a primary focus and as such as simply not equipped to provide for our veterinary patients.  While some of the medications that veterinarians prescribe will on occasion be human medications allowing our clients the option of having a prescription filled at a human pharmacy, many of the drugs we use daily are not stocked at human pharmacies and human drugists are simply not as familiar with many of these drugs.

At Valley Veterinary Services, we maintain a very large pharmacy.  We will have most drugs in stock so that we can have your prescriptions filled prior to you leaving following your appointment or discharge. Special order drugs including flavoured formulations, transdermal gels (medications applied to skin) or flavoured "chews" can be available in as little as a day.

We also stock many non-prescription items including alternative pain medications, anti-inflammatories, supplements, anti-arthritics and deworming medications.

Nearly all of the prescription medication that we maintain in inventory are supplied by Associated Veterinary Purchasing, a company that was formed solely to take advantage of volume-purchasing discounts from drug manufacturers which are then passed on to veterinarians.  This allows us to ensure that the prices of the medications in our pharmacy are as low as possible.
