February is Dental Month

If dentistry has been recommended for your pet in the past or you have noticed the presence of any of the following:

 -bad breath
 -red gums
 -brownish discolouration to the teeth
 -discomfort during eating
 -behaviour changes
-loss of appetite or finicky eating pattern,

Your pet may be suffering from dental disease or dental problems.  An examination will quickly tell if your pet's teeth need attention.  Most pets will need professional dental cleaning by the time they are 3 years of age, particularly if the owner has not been performing daily brushing and/or using a dental diet like Medi-Cal Dental Formula.  The Canadian Veterinary Medical Association and the British Columbia Veterinary Medical Association have deemed February to be Dental Awareness Month for pets.  As such we are offering a 10% discount on all dental procedures and pre-anesthetic testing procedures for dentistry.  In addition, some complimentary goods are also available for those booking dental procedures for the month of February (free dental diets, oral rinses, tooth brushes and other goods).

Dentistry is critically important for the maintenance of overall good health.  Without proper attention and diligent professional cleaning both above and below the gumline, the health of teeth, gums and the jaw will be affected.    Disease far removed from an unhealthy oral cavity can also arise (ie. heart problems, kidney and liver infections, strokes and bone/joint problems).  Over time, these problems will only get worse if left unaddressed.  For more information on dental health in pets search topics on pet dental health from the Veterinary Information Network Library on this site.

Please call our office as soon as possible to book your dental procedure as there are a limited number of spaces available that qualify for these incentives and this is for the month of February only.  If pre-anesthetic testing was previously recommended or your pet is over 8 years of age, samples will need to be collected at least 2 days prior to the scheduled procedure.  Please make an appointment for this (collection of samples is usually a very quick procedure).
