Nutrition Counselling for Pets

Nutrition Counselling

Providing your pet with the right foods and amounts can stave off many health issues. It is very important that the foods you feed your fur friends are providing them with the proper nourishment they require to be healthy. At Valley Veterinary Services, we are here to provide expert advice on the nutrition that your pet needs at all stages of life, especially for pets with special needs and health conditions.

What happens during nutrition counselling for pets?

During nutrition counselling, the veterinarian does a dietary examination of your pet. This is to determine ways to develop a more balanced diet for them. At Valley Veterinary Services we can prescribe diet foods and supplements. Give us a call at 604.858.6560
to discuss your pet’s nutritional needs.
Please Note: Our hospital also provides easy Online Prescription Refill and pet food orders.

What makes food healthy and nutritious for pets?

Pets require foods that give them energy to thrive in their daily life. It can be confusing for pet owners to choose the right foods for their pets, as there are so many to choose from. When selecting foods for your pets it is best to look for those that contain vitamins, minerals, protein, fats and carbohydrates. Again, these nutrients are needed in varying amounts in pets and so it is necessary to speak to your veterinarian about your pet’s particular situation.

When or why does my pet need special foods?

Following a dietary exam our veterinarians will inform you if your pet requires special foods. Puppies and kittens require special foods to assist with their growth. Special foods are also recommended for senior pets. Seniors are more susceptible to diseases and health conditions so they require more nourishment from their foods.
