What are common orthopedic conditions in pets?

The conditions that your pet may experience is affected by many factors such as age, weight, breed and size. Here are some of the most common conditions that we treat at our hospital:

  • Disc disease
  • Hip dysplasia
  • Fractures
  • Arthritis
  • Torn ligaments
  • What are signs that my pet has an orthopedic condition?

Since pets most times cannot communicate verbally when they are experiencing pain, you have to rely heavily on the signs or changes in their behaviour. As a pet owner you should look out for these signs that may be an indication that your pet has an orthopedic condition:

  • Weight loss
  • Stiffness/limping
  • Hesitant to jump or run
  • Experiencing complications to go up or down the stairs
  • How can orthopedic conditions be treated in pets?

Our veterinarians can prescribe specific treatments for your pet’s condition. We may recommend physical rehabilitation, surgery, oral medications and at-home exercise to reduce the discomfort your pet is experiencing.
